"Amicus Award"

At commencement each year, the Philosophy Faculty at St. Philip’s College bestows an award that recognizes outstanding contributions to the shared work of our extended faculty, our colleagues, or our local partners in the Greater San Antonio Community in the teaching of Philosophy inside and outside the classroom. 

Our students benefit when our partners come together to share expertise, knowledge, and resources.

Stella Nanez has been a long-standing backer of the Philosophy Faculty and a constant source of support for our students and their programs, For her patience, professional assistance, good humor, and warm spirit, we recognize Stella with this year's award.

Stella worked for several businesses, including Luby's Cafeteria, before coming to St. Philip's College over 16 years ago. She is an active member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church community.

She has three grown children, "all girls," who now have six grandchildren (5 girls and 1 boy) and she has one great-grandson! Stella also has a loyal friend "Toto," who is a Chorkie (Chihuahua & Yorkie mix!)
