At commencement each year, the Philosophy Faculty at St. Philip’s College bestows an award on a member of our community for their work supporting international education or service.
This year’s recipient is Alejandra Bueno, the Executive Director for International Programs at the Alamo Colleges District. Alejandra has led the Office of International Programs since 2019. She is responsible for a wide range of programs and events that serve to internationalize the curriculum of the five colleges and provide global learning opportunities for all of our students, both within the United States and abroad. |
Alejandra is licensed to practice law in Mexico and in the US (by the State of New York). She is currently serving as Executive Director for International Programs at the Alamo Colleges District. Member of Leadership San Antonio XXXV, Former Chair of the Energy Committee at the Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos.
She was an of counsel at Cacheaux, Cavazos and Newton LLP, working within the energy practice. She previously worked for Texas Governor Rick Perry from 2007 to 2013, as Director for International Business and as the Governor’s Representative in the South Texas Region. Alejandra is a member of the US-Mexico Bar Association, Academia Mexicana de Derecho Energético (Mexican Academy of Energy Law). She serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the San Antonio – Mexico Friendship Council, member of the Bi-National Committee of the Eagle Ford Shale Consortium and Women’s Energy Network. Alejandra is a currently Law Professor at the LLM in Energy Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL). Her prior public engagements in Mexico include the Office of the President of Mexico, the National Council for Science and Technology and the Council for Culture and Fine Arts. She is proficient in English, Spanish and French. |
